Geroge’s Dad George Senior was my Dad’s brother (Ernie, known as Shorty) Each Christmas time George Snr would come to Dovercourt with young George to exchange Xmas gifts and stay for the day visiting. Young George was a very quiet, highly intelligent lad. He had a huge interest in Battleships and loved talking about them with his uncle Shorty who was ex RN and so had a lot of knowledge and stories to share with him. Shorty would also take me to Ipswich to visit and my everlasting memory is of a teenage George sitting with an old fashioned, Sherlock Holmes style smoking pipe in his mouth. To this day I don’t know if it was ever lit.
Rest in Peace Cousin George. Gone but not forgotten. Ernie Pulham XX
